They're closer to the Starcaster by Fender line than the Squier line, which includes some rather nice guitars. They seem to be produced under two names - Maestro and Signature.

Jan 6, 2010 · most high end guitars today (nitro) come with a nice hard shell case. back then this wasn't always true. and even the ones that did, had cases which weren't as close to air tight as their modern counterparts. so, those guitars were able to air out more, allowing the finish to harden and become more prone to checking as opposed to today.

Most thin lines will have a laminate body although some top of the line hollow body guitars like the L5 or Gretsch Country Club might have a solid spruce top. So don't be disappointed, some of the greatest guitars ever made had plywood bodies.

You may find that an Epiphone or Zagar or Breedlove plays betters for you than a super expensive be all end all brand.

Chicago Music Exchange also posts neck depths on used and vintage instruments. All of these will display commonalities among neck profiles across different brands, models and years.
