Dec 1, 2022 · I just recently got new AirPods Pro 2 with MagSafe Charge Case (USB-C). My MagSafe Charging Case definitely has a USB-C port yet the model number imprinted in the case is A2968 and the Apple Support site identifies model A2968 as the MagSafe Charging Case (Lightning) introduced in 2022. But there is no mistaking a Lightning port for a USB-C port.

The updated firmware has a build number of 7A5266c, up from 7A5244b, and it is available to developers at the current time.
