Wet weather is on its way to San Diego County Tuesday, forecasters said. The National Weather Service reported a 10% to 15% chance of light precipitation on Tuesday as the marine layer deepens from coastal to foothill areas throughout the county.

A new prescribed burn, called Palomar Mountain Piles Wcsl, was initiated 12:10 p.m. Jan. 8 in San Diego County. The prescribed fire has been burning on federal land managed by the United States Forest Service for more than a month.

The storm is expected to bring about 2 inches of rain to northern and southern parts of the county between Wednesday and Friday

Forecasters warned Monday that a powerful storm system is approaching San Diego County that could trigger flooding and debris flows, particularly in recent burn areas.

A storm system that has the potential to bring significant rainfall is expected to arrive mid-week. Residents should prepare for the wet conditions by using sandbags, which help redirect stormwater and debris flows away from property improvements,
