French President Emmanuel Macron has called the return of his US counterpart, Donald Trump, to the White House an "electroshock" that should compel Europe to take care of its own future and future of Ukraine.

The French president warned that tariffs would harm European economies but also the US, given the level of economic ties. He told CNN that the EU should not be a 'top priority' for the US after Trump's repeated threats to target the bloc.
