India and Pakistan engaged in the most intense fighting in decades with four days of escalating conflict that included fighter jets, missiles and drones packed with explosives. It ended almost as abruptly as it began.

India and Pakistan agreed to a ceasefire on Saturday after U.S.-led diplomacy, but hours later India said that Pakistan had violated the truce.

At 1:30 am on 7 May, shortly after a precision military operation concluded, India’s Director General of Military Operations (DGMO) called his Pakistani counter
