The China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), often lauded as a transformative initiative, has faced significant criticism for its performance in Gwadar, which was intended to be the flagship project of the megaproject.

The embassy of China in Pakistan on Monday said on Monday that China always supported the construction of Gwadar Port and the development of Balochistan.

According to the reports, the Pakistani government is reluctant to allow the presence of Chinese military forces in a region like Gwadar, as it could anger the United States and spark domestic opposition.

Pakistan and China were recently at loggerheads over the control and ownership of Gwadar Port with Islamabad stating that the port, which was built with substantial Chinese investment, belongs solely to Pakistan and won't be handed over to any foreign entity.
