Beach hazards statement affecting San Diego County Coastal Areas until 3 a.m. Monday, says the NWS
Lightning strikes on the beach for San Diego County Coastal Areas between Camp Pendleton and Del Mar until 3 a.m. early this morning. The NWS adds, "Lightning is expected to strike the beaches as a band of thunderstorms moves through the coast."
Rain causes rise in bacteria at San Diego beaches
A general rain advisory was issued, and beachgoers were warned that rain can cause runoff which raises bacteria levels in ocean and bay waters, according to the San Diego County Department of Environmental Health and Quality. Swimming, surfing and diving should be avoided during rain and for 72 hours afterward, the department said.
