On a phone call with The Breakfast Club, the former daytime talk show host—who was diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia and progressive aphasia in 2023—said she feels like she is “in prison” in her care facility.

Williams was placed in her guardianship after her bank believed she was being financially abused. She entered a care facility in April 2023. But last year, her family criticized her care, claiming they have trouble visiting and communicating with her.
