SUNRISE, Fla. (AP) — Carter Verhaeghe had his fourth career hat trick, Sam Reinhart scored his 31st goal and the Florida Panthers beat New York 6-3 on Sunday night to end the Islanders' winning streak at seven games.

Verhagehe quickly gave Florida a 2-0 lead with a pair of goals in the first period. He opened scoring 39 seconds into regulation with a backhanded shot that beat Islanders goaltender Jakub Skarek high. He doubled the lead with 7:08 left in the period when he cashed in a wrist shot on a rebound from defenseman Gustav Forsling.
