Jordan Spieth is chasing the Career Grand Slam for the ninth time at the PGA Championship, but he didn't get off to a great start in Thursday's first round.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — Jordan Spieth came to Quail Hollow hoping to follow in Rory McIlroy’s footsteps and complete the career Grand Slam. After Thursday’s opening round of the PGA Championship, he’d probably be happy just to make the cut.

Spieth has not been at the height of his powers for years, but an improved all-around game and welcoming Quail Hollow Club set up nicely for history to be made
